The Royal Wedding
Westminster Abbey
Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton will be married at Westminster Abbey in London at 10am, on Friday 29 April 2011.
What to wear to the Royal Wedding
What are you going to wear to Kate and Williams wedding? Now remember you mustn't outshine the bribe...what do you mean you haven't received your invite yet! Its the Post Office I tell you. Gone to pieces since all this tweeting palaver.... :)
Where to see the Royal Wedding?
Well never mind, there will be lots of us who also didn't get their invites (...sob ). Many of the disappointed will be hanging around outside Westminster Abbey. If you want a front row seat I suggest you get there about 4am the day before. Alternatively, you can probably afford to get somewhere on route a little later (about 5am!)
Where are you going to witness/see Kate and William tying the knot?
Kate Middleton, Catherine or 'our Kate', will travel to Westminster Abbey by car through The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and Parliament Square.
Who will be there?
Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will marry the royal couple and the Bishop of London will give the address, while the Dean of Westminster will conduct the service.
Somebodies
Beyond that just about everybody who is somebody, was somebody, knows somebody who is somebody or is married or otherwise attached to somebody who knows somebody who is somebody will be there except me (sob again).
What happens after?
After knots have been tied, William and Kate will make a procession by horse-drawn carriage to Buckingham Palace where the Queen will host a private reception, Clarence House. William's father Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, will host a private dinner in the evening.
Why not St Pauls?
Westminster Abbey has great historic significance for the Royal Family. Westminster Abbey hosted the wedding of The Queen and Prince Philip in 1947; the wedding of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, in 1923; and the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997. According to the BBC News “the couple chose the Abbey for its staggering beauty, 1,000-year royal history and its feeling of intimacy despite its size.”
Princess Diana
But the real reason is of course that's where Prince Charles married Princess Diana. It would be too uncomfortable and too easy for the press to make comparisons (which they will do anyway but that's the price of democracy or, I guess, "off with their heads" depending upon how much of a Royalist you are)
What next?
Enjoy yourself and party. There are hundreds of ways to do that:
